This 320-page hardbound book by Richard Penn is a compendium of pictures of old general stores and their many beautiful and collectable display cabinets, cases, characters, counters, clocks, consumables and commercial miscellanies. Richard Penn operates an auction house specializing in antique general store advertising and display pieces. Many of the items in this book are taken from his auction catelogues, as are the prices at which they were offered. (Our experience is that these estimates are low compared to today’s realized prices). Neverthless, the illustrations are wonderful and some of the items pictured can be found today in The Brewster Store. Unfortunately, they are not for sale.
